What will happen with potlucks and other activities that are a part of our respective cultures?
Both churches have developed unique activities and manners that support the values of their people. We are now becoming a new church together. Not everything that worked well in a group of 75-100 people works for a church of 200.
As leadership, we will continue to ask the question, “What are the best strategies for fostering the values of worship, ministry, evangelism, discipleship, and family?” As we settle in together, every activity that we have done separately will be changed. Each will be augmented, rearranged, substituted, and in some cases, may no longer be feasible.
Just like in a marriage, we are going to create new traditions and manners together. It will be hard. It will require patience. It will require creativity. It will require learning new things. We strongly believe that what we get in return will wonderfully outweigh the momentary challenges of the coming months.
